HUNTING AND SHOOTING
Over the past 40 years the late Talbot Radcliffe, his family and competent staff have developed a wonderful mixed shoot. Bookings are accepted for groups only. A group or party consists of six to ten guns. The ideal number is six to eight. Formal traditional driven shooting begins after October 17th through to the end of January. All pheasants are driven to forward guns, four drives before lunch followed by two drives in the afternoon and an evening duck flight if conditions are favourable. The home beats provide exciting, varied and testing shooting. Numbers can be arranged to suit all requirements. In November, December and January there is good Woodcock shooting when the birds are migrating from Scandinavia, Asia and France to the United Kingdom and Ireland.
Several good small lakes together with the famous Lake, Llyn Llywenan, one mile long, all provide wonderful Duck and Goose shooting. Evening flight pools provide excellent sport at the end of the day. Driven Snipe shooting is also available in October, November, December and January. The variety of mixed game on offer is very rare these days. There is no shooting by law in Wales on Sunday. The weather is usually mild, and free from frost and snow most seasons. The climate is moderate, sometimes windy, sometimes wet but it seldom rains all day.
The Sporting Clay lay-outs at Presaddfed have hosted national and international competitions. The layouts, set in 8 acres of picturesque countryside, are designed to simulate different types of shooting with high towers, doubles and flushes to add to the challenge. Tuition is available to assist both beginners and the more advanced. Clubhouse; refreshments available. Summer opening times 2010. Wednesdays 6 p.m. till dusk. Saturdays 1p.m. till 6p.m. New this season – Skeet Layout. Come and Try. Introductory lessons by appointment. Please contact Tim Garner on 07891669965.
